Major Arcana - The World

Finally, the Fool encounters a naked woman dancing, there's a victory wreath around her and the four seasons seem to follow her every whim, she's also holding two wands in her hands. The Fool recognises his Soul, in Perfect Harmony in the Eternal cycle of Life. The Fool has finally reached the end of this journey and the beginning of the next, his consciousness is expanded and he can see that what's Above is also below. What's happening in his microcosm is also happening in the macrocosm. Within is Without.

The Fool realises this is but the beginning of a new journey, on a new plane, in a new life. The Cosmic Egg has been both split open and laid anew. His being is being merged with that of the Universe. He understands himself and the Universe. Chaos is all of a sudden order. He's on the Path.

In the Kabbalah the number 21 is connected to change and the eternal search for meaning. 21 is equivalent to three times the sacred number seven. 21 corresponds to 400 in the Kabbalah and stands for eternity and divine perfection.

The World is there to support you when you seek new horizons, when you expand your consciousness and all planes of existence. It'll help you develop a sense of community and family, bringing about universal Awareness.

Major Arcana - Death

Next up is Death, the Fool becomes Aware of his mortality and the need to constantly Change in order to Grow. The spread out limbs on the field represent transience, and the scythe is an instrument of Change. The Connection between Heaven and earth is Death, and as such something must always Die in order to give Birth to something else. Regardless of status we are all subject to Change. To time marching ever on. Transformation is at the Heart of understanding Death, we're all just a Vessel for what's most important, The Soul.

The Fool must learn that the purifying experience of death, not necessarily physical, but that of change alters situations. As one situation dies it lays the foundation for a new one. The old acts as fertiliser to the New and help you Grow. The Fool needs to believe in the fact that the trick to getting over your losses lies in seeing New Opportunities and Possibilities. Change or Death can be unsettling but it also gives you a thrilling sense of Freedom...

In the Kabbalah the number 13 symbolises the end of something old and the beginning of something new. It's connected to love and unity, the never ending need for balance, death and life etc. A powerful symbol of change and a need for caution.

Death will help you realise that there's a need to release the old in order to gain something new. Death occurs in the macrocosm as well as in the microcosm every day, even your cells go through a continuous cycle of death and rebirth. Death or Change is indeed inevitable, the only thing that's permanent is Impermanence...

The Major Arcana

Hello there fellow Fool!

If you've found your way here you might just be starting out on your journey with the Tarot towards knowing yourself. I hope my posts will help and guide you on your journey towards enlightenment.

I thought it might be a good idea to start this blog by taking you through the Major Arcana of the Tarot. It depicts the trials and tribulations of the Fool's Journey through life on this Plane of Existence. The Major Arcana consists of 22 cards and constitutes the heart of the Tarot.

We start the Journey by befriending Card number 0, The Fool.

The Fool is who we all are at the beginning of life, start of a new project or in terms of starting a new cycle of personal development. Number 0 indicates he's neither positive nor negative, he's malleable and pliable, open minded and spontaneous. The dog indicates he is driven by instinct and trusts his gut feeling. He's strangely unaware of the hardships of the world as he approaches the cliff edge on his journey of acquiring knowledge...

The Fool will support you when you are faced with taking a big step or when you've lost the sense of joy in your life. He's never afraid of new beginnings and looks at life as a playful adventure. If you need a simpler approach to a problem in your life, meditate on the Fool, employ the spontaneity of a child and put your adult mind to the side for a while.

New beginnings are always good, embrace them and always trust in the fact that the Universe provides.
